Give your AI editor the real brand rules

A saved project becomes a hosted MCP server. Your agent reads the current tokens and rules instead of guessing hex values, and Brand Check lints the code it writes against the same system.

How it works

From a saved project to a result, in four steps.

  1. Save a project

Capture a site into the Vault. The newest snapshot, or one you pin, is what gets served.

  2. Make a token

Open the project’s Connect tab and create a token. It is shown once and sent as a bearer header, never in the URL.

  3. Paste one line

Copy the command for Claude Code, a Cursor config, or a shared .mcp.json that reads the token from your environment.

  4. Build and check

The agent calls get_brand_rules, get_design_md, find_nearest_token and check_code. In CI, designlang check lints files on your machine against the project.

Where it helps

Building on a client brand

Stop agents inventing near-miss blues.

Design system rollouts

Make the agent’s default the system, not the previous sprint’s copy-paste.

Code review

Run Brand Check on a branch and see each off-token value with its nearest token.

Limits. The server serves what was extracted from a live site: the system as it renders, not a hand-curated one. With the CLI check and --context, your source code stays on your machine.

Questions, answered

Which tools does the server expose?
get_brand_rules, get_design_md, get_snapshot_info, find_nearest_token and check_code, plus resources for the brand rules, DESIGN.md and snapshot info.
Is there a free version?
The open CLI ships a local MCP server (designlang mcp) and designlang check, both free. The hosted server adds a saved, versioned project and a revocable token.
Where does the token go?
In the Authorization header. The setup snippet for shared files references an environment variable so a committed .mcp.json holds no secret.
Can I revoke access?
Yes. Tokens can be revoked from the project. In a workspace, admins and owners create and revoke them.
